Meeting started by CaseyODL at 16:08:32 UTC
(full logs).
Meeting summary
- Colin Dixon provides an update from the TSC (CaseyODL, 16:09:28)
- The biggest affect on users in the next release
will be the update to Karaf 4. (CaseyODL,
16:10:57)
- We will move to Karaf 4 to meet our future
security goals. (CaseyODL,
16:13:01)
- We will update our documentation so it is clear
how this will affect feature installation (CaseyODL,
16:13:41)
- Learning to use Carbon sooner rather than later
would be helpful to understand the new features. (CaseyODL,
16:14:42)
- Beau asked what security issues are being
resolved. (CaseyODL,
16:15:10)
- Colin reported that there are no direct issues.
It is more supporting newer dependencies that move though karaf.
Preventing future issues. (CaseyODL,
16:16:03)
- In karaf 4 we will be able to dynamically load
and unload features properly instead of just outright removing
them. (CaseyODL,
16:17:55)
- The RSC for RESETCONF was finalized by IETF
about a month ago. (CaseyODL,
16:18:53)
- We will be shipping with our original draft 2
of the RSC and the latest draft in Carbon. Draft 2 will eventually
be removed. (CaseyODL,
16:19:51)
- Carbon will support better federation between
OpenDaylight instances. (CaseyODL,
16:26:13)

- OpenDaylight has slowly been migrating to
Blueprint to manage our features and separate system and user
configurations to better support Upgrades in the future. This will
also have the added benefit of having less bespoke code.
(CaseyODL,
16:35:56)
- Colin announced that ODL has been struggling
with the idea of changing our release schedule. We currently
release every 7-8 months. (CaseyODL,
16:39:11)
- Colin asked if there would be a significant
benefit to shipping on a fixed calendar schedule. (CaseyODL,
16:40:01)
- The AG seemed indifferent to the idea. Colin
stated that it is likely the way that ODL will move due to it
becoming the industry standard for other Open Source projects.
Colin asked that if the AG has any feedback to let him know.
(CaseyODL,
16:41:42)
- Colin also told the AG that they can always see
the ongoing TSC discussions on the TSC agenda wiki page.

- Beau asks if there is any new info about a
possible change of leadership in ODL with Neela's departure.
(CaseyODL,
16:44:52)
- Phil reported that this currently hasn't been
discussed on the Board, but it will be an agenda item at the
following meeting. (CaseyODL,
16:45:19)
