  2. Container Network Benchmarking (bh526r, 13:07:38)
    1. Sridhar started with introducing background of how VSPERF tests vswitch performance (bh526r, 13:08:36)
    2. Mark Beierl (bh526r, 13:09:01)
    3. David McBride (bh526r, 13:09:15)
    4. Tim asked if it can also support the traffic that OPNFV generates? (bh526r, 13:10:22)
    5. Trevor Cooper (bh526r, 13:11:48)
    6. Tim explained that if we use Apex to install OPNFV, and start 2 VMs, can we use VSPERF to test the traffic between those 2 VMs? (bh526r, 13:12:54)
    7. Al Morton said Yes, it supports. (bh526r, 13:13:15)
    8. Then Sridhar explained container networking (bh526r, 13:15:04)
    9. between CNM and CNI, we will stick to CNI, and CNI very likely will become de facto standard (bh526r, 13:15:54)
    10. we can start with Multus+v-host (bh526r, 13:16:39)
    11. Sridhar shared an architecture of container networking setup (bh526r, 13:16:57)
    12. and how VSPERF, vswitch, traffic generator etc components are in the architecture (bh526r, 13:17:57)
    13. Bob Monkman (bh526r, 13:18:16)
    14. Xin (bh526r, 13:18:38)
    15. Trevor Cooper (trevor_intel, 13:20:36)
    16. Fu Qiao (bh526r, 13:24:30)
    17. Juha Oravainen (bh526r, 13:24:49)
    18. Tim thinks that great value of VSPERF is the framework of doing performance benchmarking with different tools, so that different performance benchmarking can be comparable (bh526r, 13:30:32)
    19. Tim will follow up with respective teams and persons, e.g. VSPERF, NFV Benchmarking, and other performance testing and benchmarking teams (bh526r, 13:33:27)

  3. New Project Proposal - Rocket (bh526r, 13:37:47)
    1. https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/PROJ/Rocket (bh526r, 13:37:56)
    2. Wang Xu introduced Rocket about hardware acceleration, which was firstly introduced in PlugFest (bh526r, 13:38:37)
    3. Rocket proposal includes (1) Requirement analysis of VNF acceleration; and (2)Accelerator common API design (bh526r, 13:45:02)
    4. Discussions were about hardware acceleration v.s. software acceleration (bh526r, 13:59:01)
    5. Wang Xu will send presentation slides to mailing list (bh526r, 14:02:03)
    6. We will continue discussion on mailing list, and also next week (bh526r, 14:02:20)

  4. AOB (bh526r, 14:02:28)
