16:09:47)
- Other upcoming conferences: Open Source Summit
Europe; Mozilla Festival; OpenStack Summit; Grace Hopper.
(GeorgLink,
16:14:38)
- Why do we organize to go to conferences?
Because many of us go anyway and it is little overhead to also
promote CHAOSS and spread the word. Also, conferences are good for
building community and getting new people engaged. (GeorgLink,
16:17:16)
- Metrics (GeorgLink, 16:21:17)
- Discussion about our approach for defining and
evaluating metrics. Should we have a more structured and empirical
approach? Maybe a set of questions to be asked in the wild about
specific metrics, how they are used and applied? (GeorgLink,
16:22:24)
- How can we 'scientifically' claim that our
metrics do what we think they do? Defining metrics is basically
coming up with hypotheses; Evaluating the metrics requires a second
phase in the process. -- Maybe we are not there yet. How do we
determine that metrics measure what they are supposed to measure?
How do we know that they are valuable to people? (GeorgLink,
16:24:23)
- The discussion boils down to an argument for
our process of how we determine which metrics we include in our
categories. (GeorgLink,
16:30:41)
- The D&I workgroup has defined its own
process that includes documenting the process, include references,
and have expert validation. (GeorgLink,
16:42:21)
- Metrics to have value to non-developers, we
need good stories around the metric; such meaningful metrics might
have to be complex and composed of several metrics. (GeorgLink,
16:43:06)
- metrics are not telling the full story but they
can provide an indication for where to investigate
qualitatively. (GeorgLink,
16:47:02)
- How can we overcome the gap between metrics and
their interpretation? (GeorgLink,
16:47:32)
- Software Committee updates (GeorgLink, 16:51:24)
- New GrimoireLab versions coming with several
new features: check them out. (GeorgLink,
16:51:45)
- Daniel German will share a new paper about
Cregit. (GeorgLink,
16:53:07)
- Augur has an easier process for new users and
several other new features. (GeorgLink,
16:53:29)
- For new software releases, we can use the
CHAOSS website blog: https://github.com/chaoss/website (GeorgLink,
16:55:45)
- OpenStack survey (GeorgLink, 16:56:01)
- We can be involved in the data analysis,
requires a NDA with the OpenStack Foundation. (GeorgLink,
16:56:44)
- the survey will hopefully go live next week and
the results should be analyzed by November for the OpenStack Summit
:-) (GeorgLink,
16:57:59)
